Housing Resources

AICHO aims to address Duluth's high American Indian homeless rates by creating and offering transitional housing services.

In need of housing?

Housing through AICHO is handled through the St. Louis County Coordinated Entry System for Housing. If you are interested in housing at AICHO, your first step is to call 2-1-1 or 1-800-543-7709.

When calling 2-1-1, make sure you are speaking with the Duluth office. Request to schedule an appointment with a Case Manager for a VI-SPDAT. It is very important that you stay in contact with your case manager. They have to be able to contact you when a housing unit opens up.

You should also apply for Public Housing and Section 8 Programs with your local HRA as well as other subsidized rentals in the area.

Once you have completed your VI-SPDAT, your case manager will give you a receipt with a list of documents that you will need for housing (IDs, birth certificates, Social Security Cards, income verifications, etc.)

It is important to know that the Coordinated Entry does not have a "first come, first served" waiting list. Instead, households are prioritized based on their homelessness history and VI-SPDAT score.

This system is only for people who live in St. Louis County, MN. If you don't live in St. Louis County and would like to access resources, please call 2-1-1 and ask for assistance in your area.

What is a VI-SPDAT?
The VI-SPDAT is a Vulnerability Index (VI) & Services Prioritization Decision Assistance Tool. VI-SPDAT is the assessment tool used by Coordinated Entry Systems in Minnesota, and many other states.
