2023 Art Gallery

Banner art made by Jonathan Thunder, 2018

We are looking for art exhibitions!

AICHO Galleries invites all artists to submit an application and proposal for this year's art gallery shows. AICHO has hosted art gallery shows in the Dr. Robert Powless Cultural Center since 2012. AICHO Cultural Arts Program Mission: To provide emerging and established American Indian, first and foremost, diverse and local artists' resources, promotions and outreach and opportunities to share/sell their artwork within Duluth Minnesota, the surrounding communities and beyond. To provide our community with access to Indigenous and diverse artists and artwork in an Indigenous cultural learning space. To provide youth hands-on experiences to learn cultural artwork and techniques/practices.

We are one of two Indigenous led art galleries in the Twin Ports. Cultural arts is, and has been, a priority of the American Indian Community Housing Organization from its founding in 1993. We infuse culture and arts into all of our programming and into everything that we do.

We are grateful to the McKnight Foundation, First Nations Development Institute, and  Minnesota Department of Human Services Behavioral Health Division for funding AICHO Cultural Arts Programming and Initiatives.

As we move closer to 2023, we would like to open our call for art exhibitions in our Dr. Robert Powless Cultural Center Gallery. See our show schedules below and don't forget to follow AICHO Galleries on Facebook!

Show Schedule:
Show 1:  February to March
Show 2:  May to June
Show 3:  August to September
Show 4:  November to December

AICHO will host either an opening reception or a closing reception for each show based on the artist's preference. At this time, AICHO does not have the capacity to host both events for each show. In this form, please indicate which reception you prefer. At a later date, we will notify artists with the exact dates of each show and reception.

Accepted solo artists will receive a $1,000.00 stipend. Two artist shows - each artist will receive $500.00.

Fill out this form to the best of your ability and try to be thorough when answering descriptions. This will help us in our selection committee's decision making. Best wishes!

For any questions about the form or the show, please send an email to Ivy Vainio (she/her) at ivyv@aicho.org
