Raise funds for our domestic violence shelter expansion
|
Our fundraising goal is $25,000, which will go towards the cost of service development and supplies that include, but are not limited to: security, furniture, household goods, equipment, age appropriate toys, and art supplies. We want to create a space for victims / survivors where they are truly safe, comforted, and sheltered. With your support we can reach our goal.
Make a donation to our fundraiser! GiveMN take electronic payments and payments can be made using third-party payment methods like PayPal and Venmo. |
Amplifying the voices that are often silenced due to domestic violence
AICHO is expanding our culturally specific Dabinoo’Igan domestic violence shelter so that we can help more victims of domestic and sexual violence in our community. We need your help.
Mark your calendars and save the date for AICHO’s, in partnership with the Ordean Foundation, first concert fundraiser “One Community, Many Voices, Stop the Silence” on April 6, 2023 at the NorShor Theater featuring Keith Secola, Annie Humphrey, and Erik Koskinen (w/Band). All monies raised will go toward Dabinoo’Igan Shelter expansion. For sponsorship information, contact Ivy Vainio at [email protected].
Did you know?: In the fiscal year 2021, AICHO’s Dabinoo’Igan Shelter provided 490 unique individuals with shelter services, accommodated 2,509 bed stays, and answered over 577 crisis calls. During that same year, Dabinoo’Igan had just under 200 requests for services that were unmet due to capacity issues. Victims of violence should never have to face these barriers when seeking safety and help. Help us help our community members in need.

Keith Secola is an icon and ambassador of Native music. He is one of the most influential artists in the field today. Taken from Keith’s website: “Rising from the grassroots of North America, he is a songwriter of the people. Critics have dubbed him as the Native versions of both Neil Young and Bruce Springsteen. NDN Kars (Indian cars), his most popular song is considered the contemporary Native American anthem, achieving legendary status and earning him a well deserved cult following. It has been the number one requested song on tribal radio since 1992. In 2011, he joined the ranks of Jimmy Hendrix, Hank Williams, Crystal Gale, and Richie Valens, and was inducted into the Native Music Hall of Fame.”

Erik Koskinen is an American singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, whose music is not categorized by sub-genres. Stylistically he is on his own. Influenced by roots music of the Americas and the world, the rhythmic integrity and musical tone is as important as the lyrical content and the artistic intent. Koskinen’s recent album, Burning the Deal is steeped in American roots traditions. Part of that depth can be attributed to the top-notch players Koskinen recruited: Greg Leisz (Jackson Browne, Beck, Joni Mitchell) on lap and pedal steel and mandolin, plus the rhythm section of drummer Jay Bellerose (Alison Krauss and Robert Plant, Willie Nelson) and bassist Jennifer Condos (Don Henley, Marc Cohn, Ray Lamontagne). As for how he managed to gather them together — twice — for recording sessions in Ojai, California, Koskinen quips, “In the music biz, you’re always one person away from knowing the president.”
Koskinen explains. “I like old music. I like old sounds, and I play old instruments through old amps. But I'm not trying to sound like a Chuck Berry record or a Waylon Jennings record.” No, Koskinen is not trying to sound like anyone else at all. He’s one of a kind. An American original. |
