The Gimaajii Youth Market was held at the Hillside Farmers Market on Tuesday, Sept. 25. These youth entrepreneurs did very well. They educated shoppers about the Indigenous teas, gave out samples of the crabapple jelly and leather that they made, they handled the money transactions, and greeted customers with smiles. Thanks to AICHO’s Children’s Program Coordinator Katie Schmitz who helped organize their participation in the market. And thanks to all who stopped by.

In addition to AICHO being chosen as part of the Bush Foundation's Community Cohort, AICHO's own Moiria Villiard has been selected to participate in the foundation's Change Network.
The Cultural Wellness and Public and Nonprofit Leadership Centers at the University of Minnesota's Humphrey School of Public Affairs, in partnership with the Bush Foundation, have created a leadership program designed to challenge and inspire community leaders to grow and make change for a more equitable and inclusive Minnesota. "Change Networks are unique learning experiences for people who want to build the skills and connections that will help them become more effective leaders," according to their website. "They are designed for people who have the desire and potential to make positive changes where they work." To see the entire list of Change Network as well as Villiard's biography, click here. AICHO staff members Ivy Vainio and Moira Villiard attended The Bush Foundation Community Creativity Cohort 2 Convening in Chaska, MN. The Cohort is a participant-led, capacity building program to support organizations that make art and culture central to problem solving. There were lots of activities, sharing, engagement, networking and learning from each other about how to use art and culture in problem solving within a variety of realms and realities! We are glad that AICHO was represented at the gathering.
